Live life like a jigsaw

All the pieces are there when you start a jigsaw. But you can’t force it and do the big beautiful ones all in one sitting. You need patience, to take breaks, to keep trying, to sleep on it. You keep finding 5 minutes here and there to try and get another piece to fit. Sometimes nothing is achieved in that 5 minutes. Sometimes lots is achieved. You never know what’s going to happen in that 5 minutes. But you keep going back and having another go. Sometimes many times a day, sometimes every few days. When you see it and remember. You focus solely on that jigsaw for 5 minutes. And maybe you get engrossed and it’s suddenly 10 minutes, 20 minutes, an hour later. You can’t put a finish time on it. It happens when it happens.

Eventually all the pieces end up where they are meant to be. You admire it. You smile about it. Feel pleased with yourself for your patience and for finishing it. Then you pack it up and start the next one…

And such is life.

What does a jigsaw puzzle have to do with life?

  • If you didn’t know what the picture looked like it would be nearly impossible to do.
  • Keep trying pieces to see what fits. Test out which ones align to the big picture.
  • Tackle the easy parts first. Get a framework in place.
  • Patience, you can’t force things. They happen in their own time as long as you never give up.
  • 5 minutes being focused on something adds up and ends up making all the difference
  • Wanting to do something makes it easier
  • If something is constantly in your line of sight and gives you regular reminders, you are more likely to give it time

Hmmmm maybe life is also like lego…
